Emraan Hashmi's Awarapan 2 trailer released; film receives U/A 16+ rating after CBFC cuts

The trailer for the Bollywood sequel Awarapan 2, starring Emraan Hashmi reprising his role as Shivam Pandit, was released on 6 August 2026. The teaser shows Hashmi as a scarred, vengeance‑driven protagonist alongside new cast members Disha Patani, Shabana Azmi, Puran Gabbi and others. The film is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on 14 August 2026.

The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) granted the movie a U/A 16+ certificate after ordering several edits. Approximately four minutes of extreme violence were removed, a drug‑snorting scene was cut, and violent sequences in the second half were reduced by about 50 %. Obscene language was muted or replaced, and anti‑drug and anti‑smoking warnings were added to relevant scenes. The final runtime stands at 2 hours 20 minutes 20 seconds.

Music for Awarapan 2 is provided by a team of composers including Mithoon, Jeet Gannguli, Amaal Mallik, Ankit Sachdev and Wasif Ahmad, with lyrics by Sayeed Qadri, Rashmi Virag, Akhil Sachdeva and Sachin Singh Chandel. Promotional activities have included an Instagram Live session with producer Vishesh Bhatt, who paid tribute to late singer KK, and interviews with composer Amaal Mallik discussing the film’s tribute songs.
