Emscherquellhof walkway reopens in Holzwickede

The wooden walkway at Emscherquellhof in Holzwickede has reopened to the public following a period of renovation. The approximately 20-meter-long structure had been closed since early summer because the existing wood had decayed, making it unsafe for pedestrians.

Work on the walkway began in late June, led by the Emschergenossenschaft. Carpenters replaced the rotten wood with new beams to ensure the structure is once again safe for visitors. The renovation allows access to the platform overlooking the spring pond, which is considered the official source of the Emscher river.

The site serves as a starting point for the roughly 100-kilometer Emscherweg hiking trail.
