Emsdetten evaluates safety measures for Borghorster Straße cyclists

In Emsdetten, local authorities have released survey results regarding traffic safety on Borghorster Straße. The area, specifically between the Amtmann-Schipper-Straße intersection and the Westring crossing, has long been identified as hazardous for cyclists.

Traffic counts indicate that approximately 250 cyclists use this section daily, often forced to use narrow sidewalks or the main roadway, where they face risks from heavy goods vehicles. Meanwhile, 329 motor vehicles use the same stretch daily. In response to local pressure, the city council followed a recommendation to conduct a survey among residents and users to evaluate potential safety measures, such as converting a multi-purpose lane into a no-parking zone.
