Şemsettin Demir Becomes Doctor After Serving as Kızıltepe Police Officer

Şemsettin Demir, who worked for the Kızıltepe District Municipality’s police (zabıta) department in southeastern Turkey, completed his medical studies while still on duty. After graduating from medical school, he was appointed as a physician in the Şemdinli district of Hakkari Province.

A farewell ceremony was held at the Kızıltepe municipal building, attended by Mayor Zeyni İpek, Deputy Mayor Nevzat Kılıç, council members, municipal officials and police staff. During the event Demir removed his police uniform, was dressed in a doctor's coat and given a stethoscope, and thanked the mayor and colleagues for their support.

Mayor İpek praised Demir’s perseverance, calling his achievement “an example of determination and resolve,” and wished him success in his new role in Şemdinli.
