Şemsi Kazım Erkman memorial ceremony held at Republican Assembly

A memorial ceremony was held at the Republican Assembly for Dr. Şemsi Kazım Erkman, a prominent physician, politician, and businessman who passed away at the age of 97 on August 7.

The ceremony was attended by high-ranking officials, including President Tufan Erhürman, Deputy Speaker of the Assembly Fazilet Özdenefe, Prime Minister Ünal Üstel, and former presidents Mehmet Ali Talat and Ersin Tatar. Speakers highlighted Erkman's legacy as one of the first physicians of the Turkish Cypriot community, noting his history of providing free medical services to those in need and his contributions to the country's political and economic development.

Following the ceremony, Dr. Erkman was to be buried in the Lefkoşa Cemetery after funeral prayers at the İsmail Safa Mosque.
