Emsland Schadstoffmobil autumn collection schedule announced

The Schadstoffmobil (hazardous waste mobile collection unit) is scheduled to begin its autumn tour in the Emsland district on October 5. Commissioned by the Abfallwirtschaftsbetrieb (AWB) Landkreis Emsland, the service will visit more than 60 locations across the region through November 2.

Private households can use these collection points to dispose of hazardous materials such as paint strippers, all-purpose cleaners, oven cleaners, household batteries, fluorescent tubes, energy-saving lamps, toner, printer cartridges, and old medications.

Certain items are excluded from this mobile service. Commercial waste, used oil, car batteries, and large lithium-ion batteries (such as those from e-bikes) cannot be accepted, as retailers are legally required to take these back. Additionally, the mobile unit will not accept electronic waste. Small electronic devices can be disposed of at recycling centers, while larger appliances can be taken to central landfills in Dörpen, Flechum, Venneberg, and Wesuwe. Dried water-based wall paints may be disposed of in regular household waste.

In addition to the seasonal mobile collections, permanent disposal options include the hazardous waste warehouse in Haren-Wesuwe and stationary collection points at central landfills.
