Emvisa to prioritize long-term Gijón residents for housing
Emvisa, the municipal housing company in Gijón, has approved its 2027 accounts following a pact with the Vox party. This agreement involves modifying the criteria for municipal housing allocation.
The new rules will prioritize applicants based on long-term residency in Gijón, greater job stability, or belonging to groups most affected by the housing crisis. Additionally, the company will prioritize individuals demonstrating “civic and responsible behavior,” which may lead to the exclusion of those who have repeatedly breached contractual obligations or caused significant coexistence issues.
To prevent fraud, Emvisa plans to implement audits to detect irregular registration or fraudulent residency claims. Failure to comply with these standards may result in the loss of housing. These changes primarily affect municipal housing allocations and do not extend to the company’s rental assistance programs.
