ENAC and INGV strengthen aviation safety cooperation

The Italian National Civil Aviation Authority (ENAC) and the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV) are strengthening their cooperation to enhance air transport safety. A meeting held at the INGV headquarters in Rome focused on managing the risks associated with volcanic ash dispersion and its impact on flight operations.

The collaboration aims to establish a technical implementation agreement to improve the coordination between scientific monitoring and civil aviation operational needs. This necessity was highlighted by recent eruptive events from Mount Etna, which caused ash dispersion affecting operations at Catania Airport during the past summer.
