Enact Intelligence raises $30 million for tactile robotics development
Swiss robotics startup Enact Intelligence has emerged from stealth with a $30 million pre-seed funding round. The company aims to develop general-purpose robots capable of fine manipulation by integrating force and touch sensing directly into their actuators and sensors.
Unlike many robotics firms that rely primarily on visual data from cameras, Enact is building a proprioceptive system. This approach allows robots to sense physical resistance and their own mechanical state in real time, enabling them to adjust movements while interacting with objects. The technology is intended for real-world and industrial applications, such as tool use and assembly.
The funding round includes significant participation from prominent figures in the artificial intelligence sector, including Meta’s Yann LeCun, Mistral AI CEO Arthur Mensch, and Hugging Face’s Thomas Wolf. Other investors include Redalpine, Notion Capital, and Firstminute Capital. Enact plans to use the capital to expand its team and accelerate research and development across its hardware and AI model architectures.
