Enaex explosion in Quatro Barras marks one year
One year after a major explosion at the Enaex industrial complex in Quatro Barras, investigations and legal proceedings continue following the tragedy that killed nine workers and injured seven others on August 12, 2025.
The explosion, which occurred in an explosives accessory production warehouse, was powerful enough to create a large crater and cause tremors felt in neighboring cities within the Curitiba metropolitan area. Enaex has stated it has reached consensual compensation agreements with the dependents of the nine deceased workers. However, the Public Defender's Office of the State of Paraná (DPE-PR) continues to represent two families in legal processes that are currently under judicial secrecy.
While Enaex hired independent specialists to investigate the cause, the exact origin of the blast remains unknown. The incident left a lasting impact on the community, with families still mourning the victims, including Roberto dos Santos Kuhnen, whose widow recently discovered a personal love letter he had left behind.
