Enap and Petroperú secure energy supplies through Ecuadorian oil deals
Chilean state-owned energy company Enap has signed an agreement to acquire 100% of Pluspetrol Ecuador B.V. for a base price of US$207 million. The acquisition, involving Block 10 in the Pastaza province, is expected to increase Enap’s daily production in Ecuador by 26% and raise its proven reserves by 34%. This strategic move aims to secure crude oil compatible with Chilean refineries and strengthen national energy security.
Separately, Petroperú has secured two contracts with Ecuador’s state oil company, Petroecuador, to export 16.2 million barrels of Oriente crude. The deal, valued at an estimated US$1.652 billion, marks the resumption of commercial relations between the two state entities after four years. The crude will supply Peru’s Talara Refinery, with the contracts structured to deliver volumes over six and eleven-month periods.
In conjunction with these commercial agreements, Petroperú and Petroecuador signed a memorandum of understanding in Lima to foster energy integration. The cooperation will focus on logistics, technical knowledge exchange, and the optimization of storage and maritime transport infrastructure.
