Encina de San Silvestre farmers alert after consecutive wolf attacks

Livestock farmers in Encina de San Silvestre, Spain, are on alert following two consecutive wolf attacks occurring within a 48-hour period. The agricultural organization UPA reported that the most recent incident, which took place during the night of October 11 to 12, resulted in the death of four sheep and left another severely injured.

Initial economic losses are estimated at approximately 1,500 euros. However, farmers expressed additional concern regarding indirect impacts, such as the potential for ewes to abort due to the high stress levels experienced by the flock. The UPA is demanding immediate action from public administrations to prevent the decline of sheep farming activities in the Salamanca region.
