Encinitas City Council considers restricting federal immigration enforcement
The Encinitas City Council is set to discuss a series of measures aimed at restricting federal immigration enforcement and increasing protections for the local immigrant community. The proposal, introduced by Councilmember Joy Lyndes, follows public protests and community calls for greater transparency and safety.
The proposed plan includes six components, most notably a draft ordinance that would restrict the use of all city property and resources for federal immigration enforcement activities. Lyndes stated the goal is to build trust among residents and ensure the community remains well-informed regarding enforcement actions occurring within the city.
