Encore Construction warns Western Washington homeowners of peak water-damage season

Encore Construction, a restoration contractor serving five counties in Western Washington, is advising homeowners to prepare for the peak water-damage season, which typically runs from mid-November through early February.

Co-owner Jason Lokhmatov noted that the company expects to handle 10 to 15 water-damage jobs daily during this period due to freezing temperatures, heavy rain, and holiday travel. The primary causes of damage identified include failed pipes and supply lines, followed by appliance failures such as water heaters and dishwashers, and accidental overflows.

The company highlighted a specific risk for homes built between 2006 and 2008, noting that CPVC piping in these structures is reaching an age where it may fail. To mitigate risks, homeowners are encouraged to inspect shutoff valves under sinks and toilets annually and ensure they know the location of their main water shutoff valve.
