Endako Pub demolition marks end of era for historic landmark

The historic Endako Pub, originally known as the Hotel Annan, has been demolished in Endako, British Columbia. The three-day demolition, completed around August 11, 2026, reduced the landmark to rubble.

Built in 1928 by Sandy Annan, the building was once considered a premier establishment between Prince George and Prince Rupert and served as a central gathering hub for the community. Following the closure of the Endako Mine and changes in the railway industry, the local population declined, leading to a loss of clientele.

The property was eventually forfeited to the Province due to unpaid property taxes. The Ministry of Water, Land and Resource Stewardship stated that the building had become derelict and was occupied by squatters. The RCMP and the Office of the Fire Commissioner identified significant public safety concerns, including fire hazards and illegal activity, which prompted the provincial demolition. There are currently no future plans for the site.
