Endelave island residents demand better infrastructure after repeated outages

Residents of the Danish island Endelave have repeatedly suffered from power and transport failures. A broken mainland power cable, ferry service interruptions, and a malfunctioning emergency generator caused an 11‑hour electricity outage that also left tap water unavailable.

Horsens Municipality mayor Peter Sørensen acknowledged the frustration, describing the situation as “unusual and unacceptable.” He noted that electricity supply is managed by the private company Konstant and said the municipality will press the operator to improve reliability, emphasizing the special responsibility owed to island communities.

The mayor pledged to bring the issue to the relevant authorities and to work toward a more stable infrastructure for Endelave, highlighting the island’s dependence on a dependable supply of electricity and transport services.
