Chronic pain affects 23 million people in Germany
Approximately 23 million people in Germany are affected by chronic pain, according to data from the German Pain Society (DSG) and the German Society for Pain and Palliative Medicine (DGS).
Of these individuals, six million experience daily limitations due to pain, 3.4 million are currently suffering from severe pain, and 2.2 million deal with pain as a complex, independent psychosocial disease. Jörn Simon, a regional head at Techniker Krankenkasse (TK), noted that these high figures highlight chronic pain as a widespread health issue that imposes a significant burden on daily life.
