Advancements in endourology are providing significant benefits for patients undergoing treatment for kidney and bladder stones, urinary tract obstructions, prostate enlargement, and certain tumors. According to Professor Ramazan Kocaaslan of Medicana Konya Hospital, these minimally invasive procedures utilize thin cameras and miniature instruments inserted through the urethra or small skin incisions rather than large surgical cuts.

Key technological developments include the evolution of modern flexible endoscopes, which are thinner and easier to maneuver into the depths of the kidney. Digital cameras provide sharper imagery, allowing surgeons to more accurately identify small stones or abnormal tissues. Additionally, advancements in laser technology, such as thin laser fibers, allow for the fragmentation or pulverization of stones into fine dust.

These innovations generally result in less pain, shorter hospital stays, and faster recovery times for patients, often allowing for same-day discharge. While some cases may require a temporary internal drainage tube known as a stent, the overall trend points toward reduced surgical risk and improved aesthetic outcomes.
