Endurance running events held in Algeria and Tunisia

Major endurance running events recently concluded in North Africa. In Batna, Algeria, the 16th edition of the Imedghassen International Marathon drew approximately 1,500 participants, including 34 foreign runners. The competition featured three categories: a 42.195 km marathon, a 2 x 21.1 km relay, and a 13 km race. Ghilas Abdennacer won the men's marathon, while Houria Messaoudi took first place in the women's category. The event aimed to promote running and highlight the region's cultural heritage, specifically the royal Numidian mausoleum of Imedghassen.

In Tunisia, the tenth edition of the Ultra Mirage El Djerid took place in the Djerid desert from October 2 to 4. More than 600 runners from Tunisia, Europe, Australia, and Poland participated in distances ranging from 25 km to 161 km. Mohamed Baratli, originally from Bizerte, won the 160-mile race, and Leila Annabi secured the women's victory. Other winners included Abderrahim Zhiou in the men's 100 km and Alicja Szkamruk in the women's 100 km.
