ENEA launches biotech‑focused scientific magazine on public research and sustainability

ENEA has published the latest issue of its scientific journal EAI – Energia, Ambiente e Innovazione, titled “Public Research and Biotechnology: ENEA’s role in innovation and sustainability”. In the opening editorial, ENEA President Francesca Mariotti describes biotechnology as a frontier science and enabling technology that can generate value across the production chain while supporting sustainability and competitiveness.

The issue features contributions from Minister of Enterprises and Made‑in‑Italy Adolfo Urso, who stresses the sector’s relevance to health, agriculture, food, industry and marine applications, as well as remarks from CNR President Andrea Lenzi, ICGEB Director‑General Lawrence Banks and CREA President Andrea Rocchi. An introduction by ENEA Sustainability Department Director Claudia Brunori outlines four macro‑areas of biotech: agro‑food (green‑yellow), biomedical and pharmaceutical (red), industrial and environmental (white‑gray), and marine (blue). Interviews include Novamont CEO Catia Bastioli and other leading figures in the Italian biotech community. The full issue is available online.
