Eneco acquires majority stake in Poland's Hekla Energy
Dutch renewable‑energy group Eneco has agreed to purchase a majority share of Hekla Energy, a Polish renewable‑energy trading firm. The deal gives Eneco a platform to broaden its renewable‑power, trading and flexibility activities in Poland, one of Europe’s fastest‑growing power markets.
The acquisition aligns with Eneco’s strategy to diversify geographically and strengthen portfolio resilience. Hekla Energy will continue under its existing leadership; founder and CEO Gracjan Grela will remain a shareholder and head the company. The current majority shareholder, an investment fund managed by Forum TFI, will exit.
Eneco’s chief operating officer Kees Jan Rameau said the transaction “represents an important step in the company’s renewable‑energy growth strategy and provides a strong platform for expansion in the Polish market.” Grela added that “combining our knowledge of the Polish market with Eneco’s international experience creates solid foundations for further dynamic growth.”
