Eneco Tour: Merlier wins stages as Campenaerts takes overall title

Belgian cyclists dominated the Eneco Tour, with Tim Merlier winning multiple stages. Merlier secured a decisive mass sprint victory in Ede, finishing ahead of Dylan Groenewegen, and later won the final stage despite tactical attempts by the Unibet Rose Rocket team to surprise him.

In the men's general classification, Victor Campenaerts of Visma | Lease a Bike secured the overall victory. He managed to defend his lead through a challenging final stage in Arnhem, overtaking previous leader Jakob Söderqvist, who struggled during the climbs.

In the women's competition, Sandrine Tas of Lotto-Intermarché claimed a stage win and the leader's jersey. The race featured a breakaway by Talia Appleton and Faribi Hashimi, who were caught by the peloton shortly before the finish.

Safety concerns were raised during the event when a terrain vehicle was spotted on the course ahead of the leaders, prompting an intervention by race organizers. Additionally, a crash occurred during the final stage involving riders from Lidl-Trek, Red Bull-BORA-hansgrohe, and Lotto-Intermarché.
