ENEE manager denies changes to energy reform text

Guillermo Peña Panting, manager of the National Electric Energy Company (ENEE), has denied allegations from opposition politicians that the text of the approved energy reform is being modified. He emphasized that the approved content remains unchanged and that the current focus is on operationalizing the law.

Authorities are currently establishing an implementation roadmap, which includes organizing necessary resources, equipment, personnel, and technical assistance. An internal commission has already been installed to manage this process.

To support the transition, ENEE is holding meetings with the government cabinet and multilateral organizations to identify technical assistance and potential financing sources. Recent discussions in New York with international banking institutions were aimed at securing the resources required for the operation. Peña Panting noted that the reform establishes an institutional and market framework without showing favoritism toward any specific electricity generation technology.
