ENEE workers protest unpaid overtime in Honduras
More than 400 employees of the National Electric Energy Company (ENEE), represented by the STENEE union, staged protests in Tegucigalpa on Tuesday. The workers are demanding payment for up to five months of unpaid overtime. The unrest also led to a work stoppage by technical staff in San Pedro Sula.
Union delegate Luis Suazo reported that transmission personnel are owed over five months of overtime, while the Generation Management department faces a two-month delay. Following meetings with General Manager Guillermo Peña, the union agreed to suspend protest measures after the administration committed to managing the necessary resources to settle the debts during November.
Separately, ENEE announced scheduled power outages for Wednesday, November 4, across several departments including Francisco Morazán, Cortés, Santa Bárbara, Atlántida, Valle, and El Paraíso. These interruptions are due to maintenance work and equipment installation, affecting various neighborhoods and municipalities.
