Enefit Industry opens new oil plant facing investment recovery issues
Enefit Industry has opened a new oil plant that is projected not to recoup its investment within its estimated ten-year lifespan. The delay in the plant's opening resulted in a 100 million euro loss for the company and a reduction in the facility's overall value.
Andrus Durejko acknowledged that the investment may not be recovered before the plant is decommissioned. There are concerns regarding the possibility that the facility might need to be closed within five years.
Separately, Enefit Industry has secured a contract with an international consortium to supply 800,000 tons of oil shale-derived crushed stone for the Rail Baltica Tootsi-Pärnu section.
