Enel acquires US solar portfolio for $760 million
Enel has finalized the acquisition of a solar plant portfolio in the United States from Excelsior Energy Capital. The deal is valued at approximately $760 million and includes assets with a total installed capacity of 810 MW, expected to produce an average annual output of 1.6 TWh. The acquisition is expected to increase the Group's consolidated ordinary EBITDA by about $90 million annually.
This transaction follows previous agreements made in February 2026 regarding a larger portfolio of wind and solar assets valued at approximately $1.3 billion. Upon the completion of additional wind capacity acquisitions expected by the fourth quarter of 2026, Enel aims to reach a total renewable installed capacity of over 13 GW in North America.
In Italy, the joint venture GreenIT, owned by Plenitude and CDP Equity, has commenced production at two solar parks in the Piedmont region. Located in the provinces of Vercelli and Alessandria, the plants have a combined capacity of approximately 19 MW and are projected to generate 30 GWh of electricity annually. The projects utilize high-efficiency bifacial photovoltaic modules on single-axis tracking systems and were developed on remediated industrial sites.
