Enel announces 53 billion euro strategic plan and major hiring
Enel has announced its 2026–2028 Strategic Plan, which includes a total investment of approximately 53 billion euros. A significant portion of these funds, over 26 billion euros, will be directed toward power grids, with about 55 percent of that investment focused within Italy.
As part of this expansion, the energy group is accelerating recruitment. An agreement with sector unions aims to integrate 1,000 operational staff members into e-distribuzione during 2026. The company is also seeking specialists in administration, finance, ICT, and renewable energy across the country.
In Sicily, the 3SUN Gigafactory in Catania is a major driver of this growth. The facility, which specializes in high-efficiency photovoltaic cells and modules, aims for a production capacity of 3 GW per year. Following a 1 billion euro investment, the plant plans to increase its workforce from approximately 600 to 1,000 direct employees, with an additional 1,000 jobs expected to be generated through the local supply chain.
