Eni extends fuel price cap through end of year

Eni CEO Claudio Descalzi has announced that the energy company will extend its price cap on gasoline and diesel through the end of the year. The current price limits are set at 1.99 euros per liter for gasoline and 2.25 euros per liter for diesel, though these levels will be periodically reassessed based on market dynamics, price fluctuations, and logistical availability.

Francesco Gattei, Eni’s Chief Transition & Financial Officer, stated that the decision is rooted in social responsibility to support customers facing essential energy needs. The company estimates the economic impact of these containment policies could reach several hundred million euros per quarter.

In a related diplomatic development, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni met with the Emir of Kuwait, where discussions led to Kuwait's willingness to extend the price cap applied by Q8. This move follows appeals from the Italian government to mitigate energy costs for families and businesses.
