Energa-Operator modernizes Polish power grid with EU funding

Energa-Operator is undertaking significant energy infrastructure projects in Poland, supported by substantial European funding. Two major projects have received a total of 347 million PLN in subsidies from the European Funds for Infrastructure, Climate and Environment (FEnIKS) 2021-2027 program, with a total investment value approaching 450 million PLN.

These initiatives aim to improve power supply reliability for approximately 185,000 customers and increase the capacity for connecting renewable energy sources. The work includes constructing over 75 kilometers of new medium and high-voltage lines and modernizing 53 kilometers of existing network. The projects also involve the creation of five new main power supply points (GPZ) and the reconstruction of 12 existing ones. The infrastructure will feature Smart Grid technology to enable automation, remote monitoring, and improved grid stability.

Additionally, a separate project focused on developing intelligent power grids in the Płock and Olsztyn regions has been completed. Funded by the European Funds for Eastern Poland with over 53 million PLN in subsidies, this project improved reliability across 11 municipalities, including Działdowo, Reszel, Płońsk, and Winnica. This work involved building over 48 kilometers of new underground medium and low-voltage lines and modernizing key power supply points to support local businesses and renewable energy development.
