Energiekonzepte Deutschland files for insolvency

The Energiekonzepte Deutschland (EKD) group has filed for insolvency, affecting six of its seven companies. The Leipzig-based solar provider, which has installed over 45,000 systems across Germany, faces financial difficulties following a decision by its owner, the London-based investment firm Pemberton, to cease further funding.

Prof. Dr. Lucas F. Flöther has been appointed as the preliminary insolvency administrator for the group. He intends to continue business operations for all companies during the preliminary proceedings and is currently exploring restructuring options, including potential investor solutions.

The insolvency affects approximately 400 employees, though their wages are secured for three months through insolvency money. The group specializes in intelligent energy management, including the installation of solar systems, power storage, and wallboxes.
