Energiekonzepte Deutschland unveils back‑contact solar module to boost rooftop output

Energiekonzepte Deutschland GmbH (EKD) has integrated a new back‑contact photovoltaic module, the Ampere SolarPro 485 BC, into its EKD365+ system. The monocrystalline module delivers a 23.5 % efficiency and a rated power of 485 Wp, offering roughly 8 % more annual energy than standard modules of the same size. On a typical single‑family house roof, EKD estimates that 20 of the new modules would generate about 9 200 kWh in the first year, compared with 8 500 kWh for conventional panels. Over a 25‑year lifespan this translates to an additional 17 000 kWh, equivalent to a monetary gain of €2 500–4 500 depending on self‑consumption rates. The design places electrical contacts on the rear of the cells, preserving the front surface for light capture and reducing losses from partial shading. It also features a lower temperature coefficient (‑0.26 %/°C) for better performance in heat. The module comes with a 30‑year performance guarantee, assuring 90.3 % of its rated output after three decades. Within the EKD365+ platform it works together with battery storage, wall‑boxes, heat pumps and the Ampere IQ energy‑management system to increase household self‑sufficiency, with EKD claiming some homes could achieve up to six months of full autonomy per year.
