Energinet faces criticism over electricity grid connection tactics
A dispute has emerged between the Danish state-owned grid operator, Energinet, and the Danish Utility Regulator (Forsyningstilsynet) regarding the requirements for approving new electricity grid connections.
In March, Energinet paused connections for new projects due to pressure on the power grid, with new connection agreements not expected until this autumn. Legal expert Bent Ole Gram Mortensen, a professor of constitutional and administrative law, has criticized Energinet’s approach, describing their emergency plan for the strained grid as an ‘incredibly risky tactic.’ Mortensen asserts that there should be no doubt that Energinet’s emergency plan required prior approval.
