Brazilian utility companies launch debt relief and energy efficiency programs
Various utility companies and judicial bodies in Brazil are launching initiatives to assist consumers with energy debts and efficiency.
In Mato Grosso do Sul, Energisa is partnering with the Court of Justice (TJMS) to renegotiate debts for 237 selected customers, including individuals and businesses, through hearings in September. Similarly, in Boa Vista, Roraima, a partnership between Âmbar Energia and the Court of Justice of Roraima (TJRR) will allow 600 selected consumers to negotiate debts with discounts on interest and fines between August 24 and 27.
In terms of energy efficiency, Energisa is conducting the ‘Nossa Energia’ project in Rondonópolis, Mato Grosso, which aims to distribute up to 200 refrigerators, 300 fans, and 1,000 LED lamps to low-income families. In Marajó, the company Equatorial is running the ‘E+ Caravana’ program in Soure, offering social tariff registration, debt negotiation, and the free replacement of appliances and light bulbs to promote safe energy use.
