Energisa urges Brazilian construction sites to follow strict electrical safety guidelines
Energisa emphasizes that painting facades, roof repairs and other renovation work carried out close to power lines pose serious accident risks. Safety coordinator Roberta Santos advises that any construction activity within 2.5 metres of electric cables should be planned with technical guidance, and that contractors should contact the utility to arrange a possible scheduled shut‑off. The company provides a 24‑hour hotline (0800 079 0196) for reporting incidents.
Occupational‑safety expert Lenno Nascimento of Ferpam adds that many injuries stem from inadequate personal‑protective equipment and lack of safety checks. He stresses selecting gloves and other PPE appropriate to the specific hazard, conducting a pre‑work checklist, and using proper fall‑prevention gear when working at height. Nascimento notes that these precautions apply to professional tradespeople as well as homeowners performing DIY repairs.
