Energisa warns that covered electricity meters may affect billing

Energisa has issued warnings to customers in Mato Grosso and Rondônia regarding the obstruction of electricity meters. Placing stickers, posters, or campaign materials over the meter display can prevent technicians from reading monthly consumption levels.

According to regulations from the National Electric Energy Agency (Aneel), if a meter is inaccessible or covered, the utility provider may bill based on the average consumption of the previous 12 months. This can lead to billing discrepancies in subsequent months once regular readings resume.

To avoid these issues, customers are advised to keep the meter visor visible and the equipment easily accessible. As an alternative, consumers can perform self-reading via the Energisa On app or WhatsApp to ensure accurate billing.
