Energy access expands through gas infrastructure in Peru and Colombia

In Peru, the Fondo de Inclusión Social Energético (FISE) has inaugurated a natural gas connection at the Hospital IV Augusto Hernández Mendoza in Ica. Funded through the BonoGas Program with an investment exceeding S/ 416,000, the infrastructure supplies nutrition areas, laboratories, and machine rooms. The transition is expected to generate monthly savings of approximately S/ 39,000 and annual fuel savings of over S/ 472,000.

In Colombia, efforts to expand Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) networks are targeting rural energy inclusion. According to the Unidad de Planeación Minero-Energética (UPME), approximately 1.7 million households—95% of which are in rural areas—currently rely on inefficient and polluting fuels like firewood and coal. Grupo GasPaís, through its subsidiaries Rednova and Surgas, currently serves over 100,000 users across 124 municipalities, holding a 29% market share in Colombia's LPG domestic networks. Between 2015 and 2025, LPG network users in the country grew from roughly 59,000 to over 372,000.
