Energy communities seek resolution for grid connections in Kozani and Florina
Marios Dramalis, president of the Panhellenic Association of Energy Communities of Greece, has addressed the issue of pending electricity grid connections in the Kozani and Florina regions of Western Macedonia.
Dramalis highlighted that many energy communities submitted their applications in 2021, prior to changes in the legislative framework introduced by Law 4951/2022 and a Ministerial Decision in August 2022. He noted that the original legislation provided for connection terms within six months, leaving investors and landowners in a difficult position due to shifting priorities and regulations.
To resolve this historical backlog, Dramalis proposed that connections for these specific projects be mandatory combined with energy storage systems. This approach aims to optimize the use of available electrical space and reduce energy curtailment. He emphasized that the request is not to bypass the unified distribution system, but to address specific projects within the G2 subgroup, which includes energy community projects in Kozani and Florina between 100 MW and 400 MW.
