Energy companies achieve milestones in Norwegian offshore production

Aker BP has commenced production from three fields in the Norwegian Sea—Alve Nord, Idun Nord, and Ørn—via the Skarv Satellite Project. The project, which integrates these three subsea developments to the existing Skarv floating production unit, was completed one year ahead of its original schedule. The fields hold approximately 120 million barrels of oil equivalent in recoverable resources. CEO Karl Johnny Hersvik noted that the early delivery marks the completion of Aker BP’s entire portfolio of subsea tie-back projects sanctioned in 2022.

Separately, OKEA ASA has been honored with the 2026 Improved Recovery Award by the Norwegian Offshore Directorate. The award recognizes the company’s use of geosteering technology and real-time data integration to revitalize the Draugen and Brage fields. These technological efforts have increased reserves and extended the estimated operating lives of both fields to 2040. OKEA is the upstream flagship of the Bangchak Group, which holds a 45.58% stake in the company.
