Energy efficiency and geothermal technology developments in Italy
New developments in geothermal and building efficiency technologies are emerging in the energy sector. The Eavor-Loop system, a closed-loop geothermal technology, is being utilized to provide electricity and heat without emissions or environmental risks. Unlike traditional geothermal methods that require specific geological hotspots, this engineered underground heat exchanger can be implemented globally, including a new project in Geretsried, Germany, following a pilot in Alberta, Canada.
In the realm of building efficiency, the Conto Termico 3.0 incentive program in Italy, managed by the Gestore dei Servizi Energetici (GSE), is promoting energy efficiency through contributions for heat pumps, automation systems, and storage. Clivet is offering integrated solutions to optimize consumption, including the Edge Pro air-to-water monoblock heat pump. This system uses the natural refrigerant R290 (propane) and is designed for energy retrofitting and replacing traditional boilers, capable of operating in extreme temperatures.
