Energy efficiency projects launched in Caransebeș and Chișinău

Energy efficiency initiatives are being implemented in Caransebeș, Romania, and Chișinău, Moldova, to reduce consumption and improve living conditions.

In Caransebeș, the City Hall and the West Regional Development Agency have signed a financing contract for the energy rehabilitation of three apartment blocks on Aleea Rapsodiei. Funded through the West Regional Program 2021–2027, the 16-month project includes thermal insulation of exterior walls, replacement of windows and doors, roof repairs, and the installation of photovoltaic panels and LED lighting. The project also aims to improve accessibility for persons with disabilities.

In Chișinău, residents of older apartment buildings can potentially reduce heating bills by up to 40% through the ‘Casa Caldă’ (Warm House) program. The initiative encourages transitioning to horizontal distribution and individual metering, allowing homeowners' associations to better control consumption and indoor temperatures.
