Energy efficiency tips to reduce summer cooling costs
As summer heatwaves increase, experts are providing guidance on how to manage air conditioning and household appliances to reduce electricity costs and energy consumption.
Key strategies for cooling efficiency include:
• Temperature Management: Experts recommend setting air conditioners between 24°C and 28°C. Using a fan in conjunction with the AC can improve air circulation and allow for a higher thermostat setting while maintaining comfort.
• Physical Barriers: Installing awnings, using blinds, or closing curtains can block direct sunlight and prevent the greenhouse effect. Some suggest using aluminum foil on windows as a reflective shield.
• Appliance Habits: Unplugging chargers and turning off devices in standby mode can prevent unnecessary heat dissipation. Regular maintenance, such as cleaning AC filters, is also essential to prevent performance drops of up to 50%.
• Space Optimization: During remote work, it is advised to climatize only the room being used and to choose cooler, interior rooms to minimize the load on cooling systems.
