Energy grid modernization projects announced in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Sweden

Significant energy infrastructure projects are underway in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Sweden to modernize electrical grids.

In Gradiška, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Elektrodistribucija Gradiška has announced a major investment project supported by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD). The project, which is part of a larger initiative involving 20 local communities in Republika Srpska valued at over 30 million euros, aims to reconstruct medium and low-voltage networks. The work will cover 89 transformer areas and 1,540 kilometers of low-voltage lines, with a focus on improving reliability in areas like Jurkovica and surrounding villages. The project is expected to be completed within three years.

In Sweden, the Croatian company Dalekovod has secured a contract worth over 300 million euros to construct two parallel 400 kV power lines between Mehedeby and Uppsala. The 94-kilometer project, managed by Svenska kraftnät, includes the removal of existing 220 kV infrastructure and the construction of new lines to increase transmission capacity and support growing electricity demand. Implementation is scheduled to take place between 2027 and 2031.
