Energy infrastructure updates announced in Argentina and Peru
Argentina has launched a national and international public tender for the expansion of the ‘AMBA I’ high-voltage electrical energy transmission system. Authorized by the Secretariat of Energy, the multi-stage bidding process covers the construction, operation, and maintenance of the project. Bids must be submitted electronically via the Contrat.ar platform within 120 business days of the publication date.
In Peru, the Ministry of Energy and Mines (MINEM) has approved modifications to seven electrical projects as part of the 2027-2036 Transmission Plan update. These changes aim to align infrastructure planning with the current needs of the National Interconnected Electric System (SEIN). Key updates include reinforcing the 500 kV transmission line connecting Carabayllo, Chimbote, and Trujillo to increase capacity to 1,000 MVA, and upgrading the Chilca substation to improve energy flow and transformation capacity.
