Energy infrastructure updates in Lezhë and Skopje
In Lezhë, Albania, severe weather has caused electrical grid defects, resulting in power outages across several villages and neighborhoods, including Kallmet, Dajç, Blinisht, Shënkoll, Kolsh, and Zejmen. OSHEE teams are working to repair damaged lines. In the Skënderbej neighborhood, a medium-voltage line fell onto residences, causing damage to electrical appliances. Residents have expressed concerns regarding the aging network and are calling for permanent solutions, such as relocating power lines, to ensure safety.
In Skopje, North Macedonia, the public enterprise EMV – Thermal Energy Supply has announced readiness for the upcoming heating season, which officially begins on October 15. Director Ali Ismaili stated that necessary measures have been taken to ensure functional distribution infrastructure. While acknowledging that external factors can influence supply, Ismaili noted that teams are prepared to address any reported defects. He highlighted central heating as an economical and convenient option, estimating monthly costs for a well-insulated 80-square-meter apartment to be approximately 2,000 denars.
