Energy management trends in Mexico and Venezuela

In Mexico, sustainable energy is increasingly viewed as a strategic financial and operational tool for companies to reduce fixed costs and mitigate the impact of rising industrial tariffs from the CFE and instability in the National Electric System. Mexico possesses high photovoltaic potential, with an average solar irradiance of 5 kWh/m² per day, according to the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA).

In Venezuela, the national electrical system faces a deepening crisis characterized by daily unannounced power outages lasting five hours or more. The Maracaibo Chamber of Commerce has noted that the country remains submerged in an electrical crisis where rationing is the primary method of resource allocation. Experts suggest that resolving these issues requires moving beyond moral exhortations for voluntary saving toward economic incentives and a legal framework that encourages private sector participation in the electrical service.
