Energy prices rise for households and businesses in Austria and Germany
Rising energy costs are placing significant pressure on households and businesses in Austria and Germany. In Tyrol, approximately 80,000 households using oil heating face high costs as the heating season approaches. While officials from the Tyrol Chamber of Commerce state that no fuel shortages are expected, they advise consumers to purchase smaller quantities to manage costs.
In Bavaria, the economic impact is substantial. The Association of Bavarian Business reports that energy prices for companies were roughly 54 percent higher in July compared to the 2019 average. Specifically, light heating oil prices rose by 52 percent and diesel by 30.3 percent in July. These increases are attributed to geopolitical instability in the Middle East and the expiration of energy tax reductions on diesel and gasoline.
In response to the slow transition toward renewable heating, the Salzburg-based company Avancetec is introducing the Midea H-Pack to the DACH region. This monoblock heat pump is designed to be the size of a standard gas boiler, allowing for easier installation in apartments where space and noise are limiting factors for traditional heat pump systems.
