Romania completes over 2,000 PNRR-funded infrastructure projects

Romania is seeing a significant wave of completed infrastructure and modernization projects funded by the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR). Interim Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan reported that over 2,000 PNRR-funded investments were officially received in August, out of more than 15,000 contracted projects nationwide. Bolojan noted that projects completed by the end of the month will secure non-reimbursable funding, while those not finished by the end of August must be continued using local authority funds.

Across various regions, these funds are driving diverse developments. In Baia Mare, a 11.6 km bicycle path network has been completed. In Iași, the Gheorghe Asachi Technical University has modernized three student dormitories and a sports hall, improving energy efficiency and social inclusion. Other completed projects include residential energy renovations in Brașov, Câmpina, and Măneciu; sewage system expansions in Darabani; and digital infrastructure upgrades for the National Trade Register Office (ONRC).

Local administrations are also reporting successes in social and community sectors. Dâmbovița County completed 12 projects totaling 166 million lei, focusing on medical equipment, hospital modernization, and digitalization. Additionally, Gușoeni has completed nZEB housing for young people, and Crampoia has rehabilitated a local technical high school. These investments aim to support green transition, digital transformation, and improved public services throughout the country.
