Energy sector academic programs evolve in Venezuela and Colombia

In Venezuela, the Universidad José Antonio Páez (UJAP) and the Instituto Venezolano Americano del Petróleo (IVAP) have launched a strategic alliance to create an international training and connection platform. The initiative aims to address the need to update and prepare technical and professional talent within the national energy industry. The partnership will begin with a 120-hour diploma program designed to refresh the training of skilled workers and management levels to meet projected industry opportunities for 2026.

In Colombia, the Universidad de América has received approval from the Ministry of National Education to renew the qualified registration for its petroleum engineering program. The program has been renamed ‘Petroleum Engineering and Subsurface Resources’ to reflect a curricular evolution. This update incorporates competencies in energy transition, sustainability, technological innovation, and the integrated management of subsurface resources to align with global energy sector dynamics.
