Energy sector developments in Turkey and Azerbaijan focus on infrastructure and renewables

Enerjisa Enerji has secured a 7-year financing agreement with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) worth the equivalent of 207 million USD in Turkish Lira. The funds are designated for the modernization and development of electricity distribution networks in Turkey's Başkent, AYEDAŞ, and Toroslar regions, serving over 22 million users across 14 provinces. This agreement marks the first time the EU's European Sustainable Development Fund Plus (EFSD+) has provided support to an EBRD loan in Turkey's electricity distribution sector.

In a separate regional development, Turkish companies have expressed significant interest in manufacturing renewable energy equipment within Azerbaijan. During a meeting between the Foreign Economic Relations Board of Turkey (DEIK) and the State Agency for Renewable Energy Sources under the Ministry of Energy of Azerbaijan, discussions focused on expanding cooperation in green energy. Turkish firms are already participating in renewable projects in the Karabakh and Nakhchivan economic regions, including the supply of photovoltaic panels for solar power plants in Nakhchivan.
