Energy sector leaders discuss local content and technology security
During the Energy Days debate on local content as a state strategy, industry leaders discussed the importance of domestic technological control for national security. Experts emphasized that in the digital sphere, local content extends beyond employment metrics to ensuring energy and national security through technology control.
Representatives from major energy companies and technology providers, including Tauron Polska Energia, Enea, Asseco Poland, and Apator, noted that energy concerns are increasingly lowering entry barriers for small and medium-sized enterprises. Enea highlighted a tender for nearly 3 million smart meters to be supplied by multiple firms, including Apator.
Separately, analysis of technology procurement processes suggests that Request for Proposals (RFPs) may struggle to account for qualitative factors. While RFPs aim to organize purchases, they often rely on quantifiable metrics like price and number of features, which can fail to capture critical elements such as architectural quality, solution flexibility, and the long-term costs of vendor dependency.
